A highly typical Rioja with notes of vanilla from ageing for 12 months in American and French casks, combined with dark red berry fruit. Warming, soft and spicy, this shows freshness, purity of flavour and soft tannins. 2016 was a good year in Rioja and this wine is perfect to drink now, although it has the concentration, tannic structure and fresh acidity to age for several years. - Andy Howard MW

Goes well with
Red Rioja is a very versatile wine that can be enjoyed on its own, but also combines very well with roast meats, game and mature cheese.
Try it with poultry as well – this will be a lovely wine to drink with some pan-fried duck breast, or roast guinea fowl.
