Philippe Hérard Blanc de Blancs NV
About the Wine
Pinot Noir is not the only good thing to come out of Burgundy, there is also Phillippe Hérard Blancs de Blancs NV as well.
The house of Paul Hérard, situated in the Aube, was founded in 1925 and is well known for its Blanc de Noir Champagne. Finding it impossible to expand in their own area, they purchase base wines from a wide variety of French regions in order to capture the specific flavours and profiles desired and produce elegant sparkling wines. Those wines come under the label Philippe Hérard.
Philippe Hérard has found new home in Burgundy’s Cote d’Or and makes this wine using traditional champagne methods. Many different grape varieties are employed, each carefully selected because they contribute something special to the final blend.
Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Ugni Blanc and Bourboulenc are the grapes in this offering which is crisp and fresh with green apple, citrus and toasty brioche aromas.
This is a classy wine and a genuine alternative to up-market Blancs de Blanc Champagnes at three times the price. Try it. You will not be disappointed.
