Perez Cruz Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon, 2015
Viña Pérez Cruz
Taste Profile Where it's from
The Maipo valley is just south of the capital Santiago and home to some of Chiles most prestigious wines. This cabernet sauvignon has a very intense dark colour, a fruity promising nose with spicy earthy overtones. Full bodied in the mouth with ripe red fruits and with great tannin-acid balance, it is a very well-structured wine with mature tannins and a smooth soft finish. - John Brownsdon
About the Wine
Viña Perez Cruz is a family-owned winery situated in the superior Alto-Maipo region of Chile, widely regarded as Chile's area of greatest winemaking potential.
Situated in the foothills of the Andes, grapes are planted at the highest possible altitudes, with a mediterranean climate of rainy winters and warm summers. The state-of-the-art winery was designed by award-winning architect Jose Cruz Ovalle to be as eco-friendly as possible, with a wooden roof and natural light, to allow thermal isolation and free air flow clirculation.
Perez Cruz made their first wines in 2002 and have since amassed an impressive array of awards and gold medals since. Their Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva shows pure, ripe blackberry and blackcurrant flavours but always retains freshness, making it consistently enjoyable to drink and a good match for rich food.
Goes well with
Traditionally cabernet sauvignon's are ideal with red meat dishes and this is no exception. It will also compliment roasted game, and strong blue cheeses too. Try this one with a spiced venison stew.
