Dominio de Punctum was set up in the last decade by the Fernandez family from Madrid. Although the estate is sited in La Mancha – often the source of high-volume, average-quality wines, Punctum is located at altitude which adds freshness and intensity to these very pure wines. Lobetia Tempranillo is full of dark red fruit and plum characters, with floral notes on the nose. This wine is unoaked. - Andy Howard MW
About the Wine
The Fernandez family were grocers in Madrid when they decided to set up this biodynamic estate from scratch. Their objective was always to make accessible, easy to drink biodynamic wines and what they have achieved in 10 years in nothing short of impressive, with over 100 hectares of vineyards.
High on a gently rolling plateau, they built a purpose made winery cleverly laid out to facilitate the collecting of the grapes, making and storing the wine as efficient as possible.
This wine is made from organically grown grapes located on sunny slopes above 750m. The grapes were harvested at night to preserve the freshness and acidity, and vinified without any oak (unlike the wines from Rioja) producing a very pure and attractive expression of the tempranillo grape.

Tempranillo is a grape capable of many different styles, and will match with all types of food.
As this is unoaked, this juicy, fresh red will drink very well on its own, with all types of poultry and most red meats. There is a slightly savoury aftertaste which will also work well with soft cheeses such as Brie, Pont l’Eveque or Munster.
