About the Wine
Berton Vineyards was set up in 1996 in the premium location of Eden Valley, South Australia. With further investment in the Riverina area in 2007, Berton are now established as a major producer. Berton uses its state of the art Yenda winery to process 20,000 tonnes every vintage, with a portfolio ranging from single vineyard wines to high-quality value for money offerings.
Shiraz (Syrah) is a grape that does extremely well in Australia, and the vintage in 2016 was particularly good with abundant rain at the beginning of the season followed by dry hot weather throughout the ripening and harvest. This resulted in ripe juicy wines of great length and wonderful depth of colour.
Goes well with
A robust red wine such as this will be a great combination with all types of red meats, ranging from roast beef to slow-cooked leg of lamb.
The sweetness of blackberry and cherry will also work very well with pan-fried duck breasts and all types of game meat. Also a lovely combination with a platter of hard and soft cheeses.
