Domaine Pinchinat Côtes de Provence, 2018
Taste Profile Where it's from
A refined, elegant, high-quality Provence rosé, Domaine Pinchinat is located at 280 metres above sea level, on clay-limestone soils giving it both freshness and complexity. With a typical Provence rosé colour, this has dusky, ripe, strawberry notes on the nose and palate, allied with crisp acidity and a long finish. Some Provence rosé is rather one-dimensional – this classy wine is the opposite. - Andy Howard MW
About the Wine
Owned by the same family for over two hundred years, Domaine Pinchinat is currently managed by Alain de Welle and has been organically cultivated since 1990.
Seated at the foot of the Sainte Victoire mountain 25km east of Aix en Provence the vineyard comprises 75 acres of well drained clay/limestone soil where they grow a number of noble grapes such as Rolle, Grenache, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Mourvedre.
This wine is made from a blend of five grapes: merlot, cabernet sauvignon, rolle, syrah and cinsault – rather more complex than the normal mourvedre with grenache/cinsault and it shows.
Goes well with
A wonderful aperitif wine, or for drinking throughout the meal, Provence Rosé’s such as this are versatile and ideal for summer drinking.
Can be partnered with many types of food – try it with lighter poultry such as roast chicken or guinea fowl, or all kinds of shellfish. It will also be delicious with fruit based desserts – raspberry pavlova or lavender infused poached peaches.
