Winemaster's View

Fresh, lively and with a fragrant nose of white flowers, this is a fine, fruity and highly drinkable example of southern French rosé. The palate is a mix of strawberries, apricot and peach – a veritable Peach Melba in a glass! Rosé is nearly always best drunk whilst it is young and vibrant so don’t hold back with this wine. - Andy Howard MW

About the Wine

Rosé is one of the fastest growing sectors in the UK wine trade, and now proves popular all year round.

Rosé wine can be produced in two ways – as a by-product from red wine making (known as saignée) – or through a production method which is very similar to white wine. Most of the best rosés are produced by the latter technique, utilising cool-temperature vinification, maturation in stainless steel and an emphasis on freshness, good acidity and purity.

Although rosé is produced around the world, it is perhaps most famous in the south-east of France with the pink wines of Provence. Although many of these are of high quality, they can also be expensive, so producers are always looking for new areas to develop.

Domaine de Cabrials is one such estate, located to the west of Béziers in the Languedoc. With 80 hectares of vines, Cabrials is renowned for wines of high quality with depth of flavour. Interestingly, the estate produces an excellent Pinot Noir – unusual in these warmer climes.

Goes well with

Fresh, floral, juicy and full of summer-fruits, this will be a perfect aperitif for the warmer months, but also a fine accompaniment to roast fish, or fish in light sauce, as well as all types of white meat. Also, try it alongside red-berry and stoned fruits.
